Create a location near where you live but not too close

Start a walking or running program of 15 minutes a day. Outside when weather permits

Do leg raises, scissor kicks and then on your tummy lift your legs for reverse scissors
Flexibility is huge for models so work on doing full splits with legs behind the head.
We suggest lifestyle changes over dieting. Exercise and changes of habit can really take care of most weight concerns
Stay away from nude modeling til your are at least a great model, have a model website and working on personality and talents. Taking nudies by yourself, without boyfriends is a huge confidence builder but take your time and don’t let any photographer talk you into nudes. We have shot over 3400 nude models, or more, and never asked a single model who wasn’t already doing nudes or expressed a desire to do so. There should be no rush, you will know if and when to shoot nudes.There are so many areas that need to be worked on first and take nudes at home by yourself that will build great confidence than to start to early with photographs before you even know your trade.
Visit Models.com and study the looks and profiles. Understand in the 2020’s many models have horrible photographers and so learn the purpose of a model image.
Study many of the model profiles and those on Vogue to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and MAXIM magazine to You tube videos.
Make a list of your favorite models and study their path to modeling success.
If you become an agency model doing runway is a huge way to learn those locally who can impact your agency model bookings
All agency models need a model website and know who the agencies clients are and try and pose in name brand outfits that fit. We are one of the few photographers in United States who have over $200,000 of name brand model outfits. If you want success, you want name brand outfits and not multi layer outfits.
You have Glamour Modeling which is more about the model and Fashion modeling which is more about the outfit, energy, mood and shooting effects.
Modeling starts with your eyes, expressions and posture while wearing an outfit that showcases your features
Grow your nails without biting but not too long. Nails never curl.
Stay away from bright colors for nail polish. Natural flesh colors to red or maroon work nicely.
Some models have nails with all kinds of colors and it’s a case by case basis that a photographer would need to answer if you are working with a pro.
Understand in modeling you pose your hair and body for each image shot
Never submit to a modeling agency without a complete portfolio and having your own website. Bad impressions stay bad impressions.
Almost all models submitting to model agencies have a portfolio that grades a 30 out of 100 at best. Most are around 15 grade. Learn your trade. Submitting early just prevents you from booking work.
Smart models without exception work on booking their own work having a model website and a legit pro photographer by selling their PG to swimsuit and fitness images. So much more money working for yourself when you are working with a pro photographer, Instagram and Facebook are not the homes of pro photographers 96% are just GWCs. Some of most successful models are those with extra curves if they are proportionate and upper strength without stretch marks they can often make far more than the typical models so don’t think you need to be perfect.
Stay away from lip jobs, nose jobs and breast jobs. Small breasts with natural curves are well liked and two of our models with great natural breasts got breast jobs and look like crap, fake and one with a nipple off by over 4″. Two of our very best models with perfect lips had lip jobs and look like crap and ruined a chance for a model career. A complete fiasco and like most of the breast jobs, the worst decisions of their life. A serious, serious disaster.
Models want to have 2 pairs of clean sneakers and two to hopefully 3 pairs of heels and one pair of boots. For heels, clear, white, black and read tend to go with many outfits. Black heels and boots are at the top of the list.
Don’t pay for photo shoots. Without exception in 65 years of shooting photos I know of no-one better off paying for their model images. Most are actually a disaster or way to expensive and a near disaster. We are here to help models looking for modeling tidbits.
